Large Open Rose
(MAKE 1 EACH IN A, BAND C)
Using A and 5mm (US size H/8) hook, 5ch, join with a ss in first ch to form a ring.
ROUND 1 (RS): [1dc, 1tr, 1dc] 4 times in ring. (4 petals)
Cont in rounds with RS always facing.
ROUND 2: Keeping ch loops behind petals and bending petals forwards to work into back of petals, [2ch, from WS 1ss in 2 loops at base of 2nd dc of next petal] 4 times. (4 loops)
ROUND 3: [4tr in next 2ch sp (loop just made in Round 2), 1ss in same ch sp] 4 times. (4 petals)
ROUND 4: Using same colour and bending petals forwards to work into back of petals, join yarn from WS with a ss in 2 loops at base of highest point of any petal, [3ch, 1ss in 2 loops at base of highest point of next petal] 4 times, working last ss in first ss. (4 loops)
ROUND 5: [8tr in next ch sp, 1ss in same ch sp] 4 times, working last ss in base of first tr. (4 petals)
Fasten off.
Using 4mm (US size G/6) hook, make one
Large Open Rose in B and one in C.
Small Open Rose
(MAKE 1)
Using D and 5mm (US size H/8) hook, work as for Large Open Rose to end of Round 3.
Fasten off.
Closed Rose
(MAKE 1)
Using E and 4mm (US size G/6) hook, make 48ch.
Work all petals along 53ch with RS facing as follows.
PETALS 1â3: Miss 3 ch, 1tr in each of next 2 ch, 2ch, 1ss in next ch, *3ch, 1tr in each of next 2 ch, 2ch, 1ss in next ch; rep from * once more. (3 petals)
PETALS 4â6: *4ch, 1dtr in each of next 4 ch, 3ch, 1ss in next ch; rep from * twice more.
PETALS 7â9: *4ch, 1dtr in each of next 6 ch, 3ch, 1ss in next ch; rep from * twice more.
Fasten off.
With WS facing and starting with smaller petals, coil petals of closed rose keeping base flat at chain edge, then stitch in place at base, ensuring that all petals are secure.
Small Blossom Flowers
(MAKE 2)
Using F and 3mm (US size D/3) hook, make 4ch, join with a ss in first ch to form a ring.
ROUND 1 (RS): [5ch, 1ss in ring] 5 times. (5 petals)
Fasten off.
Weave end around centre, pull to close hole and secure.
Leaves
(MAKE 3)
Using G and 4mm (US size G/6) hook, make 8ch.
ROUND 1 (RS): 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1htr in next ch, 1tr in each of next 2 ch, 2tr in next ch, 1htr in next ch, 1dc in next ch, 2ch, turn work so bottom of foundation ch is at top and cont along bottom of sts just make, 1dc in first ch, 1htr in next ch, 2tr in next ch, 1tr in each of next 2 ch, 1htr in next ch, 1dc in last ch, join with a ss in tip of leaf.
Fasten off.
Finishing
Sew in ends.
Arrange flowers and leaves on centre of cushion front, pin and sew in place.
